Patrons of Spokane’s Women and Children’s Free Restaurant won a special treat even as our beloved Seahawks suffered a disappointing loss in NFL Super Bowl XLIX, thanks to Gov. Jay Inslee’s win-or-lose gubernatorial wager with Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The payoff of Boston cream pie cupcakes from the governor of Massachusetts came to this important Monroe Street nonprofit while Mary’s Place in Seattle was chosen to receive bacon, sent by the governor of New Hampshire. Inslee’s office selected which Washington nonprofits would benefit from the friendly wager, and Women and Children’s Free Restaurant can thank the Koffee Kup Bakery in Springfield, Massachusetts, for their delicious treats pictured below!

On behalf of Inslee, Seattle’s Ivar’s Restaurant is donating 1,000 cups of clam chowder to food pantries in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Women and Children’s Free Restaurant provides more than 40,000 meals each year at their location in the Emerson-Garfield Neighborhood. We were thrilled to be able to support this important nonprofit with professional photographs for the governor’s office press release. Rogue Heart Media was proud to partner with Desautel Hege Communications to help present this story to regional media.

It’s nice to know that something good came from the Super Bowl.
